Waterford boss Kevin Sheedy refutes 'baseless' rumour that he & Mike Newell have left the club

Waterford boss Kevin Sheedy has refuted the ‘baseless’ rumour that he and his assistant Mike Newell have left the club.

Sheedy was forced into making the statement on Thursday evening after reports emerged during Thursday morning that he had left the club.

However, that was rubbished by Sheedy a couple of hours later.

“Kevin Sheedy Manager of Waterford FC would like to refute the baseless rumour that he and Mike Newell have resigned from their positions with the Club,” a statement from the Blues read.

“They are both committed to the club and look forward to the visit of Longford Town FC on Saturday next.”

Waterford have lost five of their opening six league games – with the most recent of which coming against St Patrick’s Athletic on Tuesday evening.

The Munster outfit also had to issue a statement a few days ago denying there was an altercation involving new signing Oscar Brennan.

Sheedy’s charges are back in action on Saturday evening when they take on Longford Town at the RSC. Kick-off is at 6pm.
