League Preview: Waterford -v- Bohemians

WATERFORD

Kevin Sheedy’s Waterford will be eyeing their first home league win of the 2021 season when they welcome Bohemians to the RSC on Friday evening (kick-off is at 5.45pm).

The Blues fell to a devastating late defeat last time out away to Finn Harps – with Dave Webster’s injury-time winner the difference.

Waterford in fact did take the lead initially at Finn Park before they were pegged back, and then beaten.

That defeat followed their win away to Derry City the week previous – a game that they finished with ten-men.

The RSC outfit will continue to miss the services of Mike Newell this weekend as he continues to serve a touchline ban.

Oscar Brennan is also expected to return to the fold having missed out last week’s defeat with suspension.

BOHEMIANS

Bohemians will be looking to – like Waterford – secure their second league win of the 2021 season when they visit Waterford on Friday evening.

The Gypsies won away to Dundalk last weekend – with Georgie Kelly grabbing the winner for Keith Long’s charges.

That was Bohemians’ first league win of the season – having picked up just a point from their opening three league games.

Bohs only point prior to their win away at Oriel Park was at home to Longford Town – a game where they coughed up a two-goal lead in the last 15 minutes.

But their win away to Dundalk saw them move up to sixth position, a point ahead of Waterford who are in eighth.

Bohemians had not released any team news at the time of publication.
