Blow for Shelbourne as Gerardo Bruna is sidelined with an ACL injury

Shelbourne boss Ian Morris has confirmed that his side will be without the services of midfielder Gerardo Bruna who has suffered a long-term injury.

Bruna missed out on the Reds’ opening three league games of the season against Galway United, Bray Wanderers and Wexford.

He was an unused sub in their scoreless draw away to Galway on the opening night of the season.

And their manager Morris has confirmed that the former Derry City creative midfielder has been sidelined with an injury to his ACL.

He also provided an update on his squad fitness wise as they prepare themselves for a trip to take on Cork City next weekend.

“Gerardo (Bruna) is after doing his ACL so that will be a long-term injury,” he said after Friday’s win over Wexford.

“Sean (Quinn) will hopefully be back for next week and then we had a couple of lads who just made the bench tonight so it was difficult whether they could come on or not.

“Glen McAuley still has a game more of a suspension to serve and Luke Byrne is available now.

“We’re starting to get bodies back and we’ll be a lot stronger with a bigger squad to choose from next week.”
