Cabinteely express 'regret' after game at home to Galway United was cancelled

First Division Cabinteely expressed their regret following the cancellation of their league game at home to Galway United on Friday evening.

Cabo were due to face the Tribesmen at 7.45pm – but the game was called off just over two hours before the game was due to take place.

“Cabinteely FC very much regrets the cancellation of tonight’s SSE Airtricity League First Division fixture against Galway United,” a club statement said.

“This decision – taken by the Board of Cabinteely FC – followed protracted discussions with the HSE and the FAI.

“Based on guidance from the HSE and information available, and in the interest of public health and safety, Cabinteely FC made a decision that the fixture should not take place.

“Cabinteely FC can confirm that the correct protocols and procedures have been followed throughout.

“We would like to apologise to Galway United, their players, management and club officials as well as all officials for the inconvenience caused by the late cancellation.

“We thank everybody for their understanding.”
