Kearns joins Galway ahead of new WNL season as Donovan and Slevin re-sign

Former Republic of Ireland Under 19 international Rachel Kearns has signed for Galway WFC ahead of the upcoming Women’s National League season.

Sinead Donovan and Kate Slevin have also been re-signed ahead of the new season.

The 23 year old began her WNL career with Castlebar Celtic and played in the 2013 and 2014 WFAI Cup Finals which the Mayo club lost to Raheny United and Wexford Youths.

Kearns scored twice for Galway in a 3-1 friendly win over Athlone Town on Saturday, March 7, with recent re-signing Aoife Thompson scoring the other goal for Billy Clery’s side.

Donovan has also played for the Republic of Ireland Under 19 side and the midfielder is going into her fourth season with Galway.

The 19 year old made her debut for Galway during the 2018 season having made the move from local side Cregmore.

Slevin is a Republic of Ireland Under 17 international, the teenager made her senior WNL debut for Galway last season.

The 17 year old was a part of the Galway squad that won the WNL Under 17 League and Cup double in 2019.

The Galway Girls begin their 2021 WNL campaign when they welcome Cork City to Eamonn Deacy Park on Saturday, March 27 (kick-off 2pm).
