Treaty United and Shamrock Rovers II awarded First Division Licences

Treaty United and Shamrock Rovers II have been awarded First Division licences but Dublin County FC look to have missed out due to any issue regarding their home stadium.
Former Limerick FC manager Tommy Barrett has been announced as manager of Treaty United and they are expected to be the team that will take up the tenth and last available position in the First Division.
Dublin County, who are backed by US and UK investors, were planning to play out of Morton Stadium in Santry.
The final decision on the make up of the First Division, including a possible expanded division, will be made by the FAI Board but it is expected that League of Ireland football will return to Shannonside after a one-year absence following the Blues’ demise.
Treaty already have a presence in the National League as they fielded teams at senior and under-17 level in the Women’s National League in 2020.
Dublin County came to prominence after it emerged that they were allowed to proceed with their licensing application prior to Christmas.
Their board members including UEFA Pro License holder Lukens and former Crystal Palace player Jamie Fullarton.
The First Division clubs agreed to Rovers II's participation for the 2020 season as a stopgap and there has been opposition to the second-string Tallaght outfit continuing in 2021.
The Aidan Price-managed side came eighth in the First Division, winning four and drawing three of their 18 league games.
Shamrock Rovers II has been awarded a 2021 First Division Licence.
