Longford Town sign forward Conor Davis for 2021

Recently promoted Longford Town have unveiled the signing of forward Conor Davis from Cork City.

The 22-year-old joins the Red and Black after enduring an injury-hit 2020 campaign on Leeside.

While at Turners Cross, Davis was unable to make a single league appearance for the club as they suffered relegation to the second-tier.

Davis is formerly of Reading, UCD and Derry City and is likely to add further strength to the Longford Town attacking line-up along with Dean Byrne, Rob Manley and Aaron Dobbs.

“I'm very happy to complete this signing,” Longford boss Daire Doyle said. “Conor is another really exciting signing for our club.

“Conor comes with a great pedigree after spending time at clubs like Reading, UCD, Derry and Cork. He had a disappointing year last season at Cork due to injury but he has recovered well and has looked sharp and strong since coming in with us to train over the last few weeks.

“He will add an extra dimension to our attacking options and add strong competition for places in the team. We are now delighted to get the deal done and welcome Conor on board.”

Davis added: “Daire invited me up to train a while ago and I was really impressed with the setup and the standard of coaching.

“I’ve been out injured for the best part of a year but I’m getting stronger and fitter every week and I’m confident that I’ll be able to help the team in a great way.

“I see lots of quality throughout the team and I’m really excited for the challenge ahead in the Premier Division.”
