Teenager Killian Phillips signs new deal with Drogheda United

Drogheda United have announced that Killian Phillips has signed a new deal with the first team.

The 18-year-old commits to the 2020 First Division Champions after making his debut in a friendly away to Dundalk in July last year.

Phillips was a part of the first team squad for the remainder of the truncated First Division season, a league that Drogheda would win on the final day of the season.

The versatile midfielder, who can also play centre back was on the bench for six league games while also turning out for Wayne Groves’ under-19’s.

The youngster told Drogheda United’s media team: “it was great training week in week out with the first team and then going down to (play at) 19s.

“It benefited me a lot, and to win the First Division was a great experience.

“When Tim and Kevin asked me to sign back it was a no brainer,” he added.

Phillips also outlined his goal for next season is to “break into the first team and stay in Tom Mahon’s Irish under-19s squad.”
