Drogheda United swoop for Dane Massey

Drogheda United have signed full back Dane Massey from neighbours Dundalk.

The 32-year-old is the 6th signing for Drogs as they continue to bolster their squad ahead of their return to the Premier Division in 2021.

The Co. Meath side achieved promotion as Champions of the First Division after a three-year exile from the top tier of Irish Football.

Massey joins after a trophy laden eight-year spell at Dundalk where he made 291 appearances and scored 24 goals.

The former Bray Wanderers man won five league titles, three FAI Cups, and three League Cups at Oriel Park.

The Dubliner will bring a wealth of European experience to United Park with 29 Champions League and Europa League appearances to his name.

Speaking to Drogheda United’s media team Massey noted “Tim rang me over Christmas and has been in touch with me constantly over that period, I was really excited.”

“Tim has been telling me about the great goings on in the club and the young players there, lot of local young lads there who have great potential as well. It’s a new challenge for myself and I’m excited to get going” he added.
