Dundalk have confirmed that winger Michael Duffy has signed a new contract for the 2021 season.

The 26-year-old attacker has been the talisman for the Lilywhites since making the move from Celtic in January 2017.

The Derryman has won two SSE Airtricity League titles, two FAI Cups, and two League Cups. He was also pivotal to Dundalk’s run to the Europa League group stages in 2020.

Duffy scored four goals in 16 league appearances during the truncated 2020 campaign. It was a campaign that started poorly for Dundalk and resulted in the dismissal of Vinny Perth.

The Lilywhites finished the season strongly, however, defeating Shamrock Rovers 4-2 in the FAI Cup Final in December.

“I’m delighted it’s done,” Duffy said, speaking to the club’s media team.

“I can look forward to the season ahead now. It was a big decision but I think I’ve made the right one staying with Dundalk.”

The 2018 PFAI Player of the Year is the fifth player to put pen to paper on a new deal at Oriel Park.

Cameron Dummigan, Sean Murray, Daniel Kelly and FAI Cup hero David McMillan have also put pen to paper for the new season.
