Former Leixlip United schoolboy Andrew Omobamidele extends stay at Norwich City until 2024

Former Leixlip United schoolboy Andrew Omobamidele has extended his stay at Norwich City until at least June 2024.

The 18-year-old joined Norwich when he was 16, and he has quickly established himself with the club’s under-23 side.

He has also been training with Norwich’s first-team since the turn of the year under manager Daniel Farke.

“It’s a great feeling, it’s something I came here to do,” Omobamidele said after signing a contract extension with the club.

“I signed one this time last year and I wasn’t satisfied, every year I want to keep extending and extending, it’s a great feeling to finally get it done.

“I think that’s the beauty of this club, the opportunities are there, it’s just down to the individual to take it when it’s there.”

The Ireland under-19 international added: “For any academy player the first-team is the goal, that’s where you want to be playing.

“You want to be playing at Carrow Road in front of all of the fans, so even being involved in training and the matchday squads has been great.”
