Wexford re-sign captain Dan Tobin for 2021

First Division outfit Wexford have re-signed club captain Dan Tobin ahead of the 2021 campaign.

Tobin re-signs for the Slaneysiders after spending the 2020 season with Brian O’Sullivan’s side – playing every minute of every game for the club.

He joined from UCD where he won a First Division title in 2018, and also made 103 senior League of Ireland appearances for the club.

Tobin scored once for Wexford in 2020, firing home in the club’s sensational 5-1 win away to Cabinteely in October.

“Obviously last year didn't go as we would have liked,” Tobin told Wexford’s media team after re-signing. “Given everything that was going on in terms of the pandemic I think we should be glad we got the season finished.

“Playing every minute in the league and captaining the team were two positives I took from the season on a personal level.

“Personally, I'll be looking to come into pre-season as fit and ready to go as possible.

“Hopefully as a team we can build and improve on last year with a mix of returning players and some new ones.”

He added: “Last season we only got to play two games with a full crowd, and we were undefeated in those games.

“It definitely makes a massive difference so the sooner the fans are allowed back, the better.”
