Mark Birrane commits to Athlone for 2021 season

First Division side Athlone Town have confirmed the re-signing of Mark Birrane for the 2021 season.

The midfielder who made 13 appearances last season for the midlands side has become the 15^th player to commit to Athlone for the upcoming season.

Birrane believes the club is going in the right direction and that improvements made on and off the pitch was the main reason for re-signing for next season.

After a couple of injury hit years, Birrane is grateful for the belief in him from manager Adrian Carberry.

“The gaffer has been brilliant with me from day one," he told extratime.com. He gave me a chance after a difficult year or two with injuries and I’m very grateful for that.”

The trust Birrane has in Carberry was another factor in wanting to sign back.

Birrane is hoping for improvement from the side who finished bottom of the First Division in 2020. “Hopefully we can get off to a good start and see where things go.”
