Bray Wanderers re-sign Ireland under-21 Brian Maher and defender Aaron Barry

First Division Bray Wanderers have re-signed goalkeeper Brian Maher and defender Aaron Barry ahead of the 2021 campaign.

Maher joined the Seagulls on a permanent basis in July after spending the first couple of months of 2020 on loan at the club.

He was on loan at the time from St Patrick's Athletic. He joined the club’s under-17 side in in July of 2016 and also played with them in 2017.

Brian signed his first senior contract with the club ahead of the 2018 season. Brian then re-signed with the Saints for the 2019 season.

While at the Athletic, Maher won a Leinster Senior Cup in 2019 before leaving by mutual consent in July 2020.

Also re-signing for Bray is defender Aaron Barry – who joined the club ahead of the 2020 season.

The Dublin born defender played for Arklow Town in the LSL before going to England where he came through the ranks at Sheffield United's academy.

He spent six months on loan at Scottish side Dumbarton in 2013 and in February 2014 he signed for Derry City.

He went on to be a key part of their defence, playing twenty-seven league games, scoring his first goal in a 2-1 win over Sligo Rovers.

He also played in the FAI Cup Final, which Derry lost 2-0 to St Pats.



Aaron stayed with Derry for the 2015 season and went on to make 30 league appearances for the Candystripes as the club finished seventh in the Premier Division.

In 2016 he made another 17 league appearances and scored one league goal, in a 3-0 win away to Bray Wanderers.

Having finished third in the Premier Division under Kenny Shiels, Aaron committed himself to the Candystripes for 2017.

In November 2017, Cork City signed Aaron to a two-year contract. Aaron went on loan to Bohs for the 2019 season.
