Holders Olympique Lyonnais saw off the challenge of Italian champions Juventus to reach the last 16 of the Champions League as a 3-0 win at home sealed a 6-2 aggregate victory.

Late goals from substitutes Melvine Malard and Janice Cayman, after Dzsenifer Maroszan had opened the scoring midway through the first half, saw Europe’s top team safely through.

Juve had twice led in their home tie seven days ago and were ultimately beaten by a late Saki Kumagi strike, but they couldn’t mount the same challenge away from home.

Last season’s semi-finalists Atlético Madrid are also in the last 16 after they scored five as Swiss side Servette folded at the home of the La Liga runners-up.

Five different scorers found the target for Atléti as Leicy Santos, Deyna Castellanos, Aissatou Tounkara, Toni Duggan and Amanda Sampedro all netted.

The Spanish side had done most of the hard work in the first leg in Geneva, where they twice came from behind to earn a 4-2 win.

And the challenge of the visitors was effectively killed off when Santos made it 5-2 on aggregate inside the opening 14 minutes.

Wednesday sees 12 more round of 32 games take place with ties involving Manchester City and Kopparberg/Goteborg and Glasgow City with Sparta Praha still very much in the balance.
