Sean Barron to remain at Cobh Ramblers for 2021

First Division Cobh Ramblers have confirmed that goalkeeper Sean Barron has re-signed for the club ahead of the 2021 season.

Barron joined the East Cork side from Avondale United last summer and picked up four clean sheets in his first four matches, ending the season with eight in total.

The Waterford native produced a man of the match display in Cobh’s 1-0 win away to Drogheda United, saving a penalty in the process.

Barron is formerly of Cork City, Waterford United and the Waterford Gaelic Football team.

While away from the League of Ireland, the goalkeeper spent four years in the Munster Senior League – during the same timeframe when he won the FAI Intermediate Cup with Avondale.

“Last year was hugely enjoyable and it went better than I could have expected for me personally, despite the overall disappointment on the final day,” Barron said after re-signing.

“We’re definitely a club going in the right direction and I’ve no doubt that we’ll be right up there at the end of the year.

“The first game of the season just can’t come quick enough and I’m really looking forward to it.”
