Longford Town sign highly-rated winger Callum Thompson as goalkeeping duo re-sign

Newly promoted Longford Town have snapped up ex-Bohemians winger Callum Thompson ahead of their top-flight return.

Thompson joins De Town after spending the 2020 season on loan at Longford’s promotion rivals Bray Wanderers.

The club have also confirmed that goalkeepers Lee Steacy and Luke Dennison have re-signed for 2021.

However, the Red and Black have also added that Niall Barnes, Adam Evans and Dylan Hand have all departed.

Thompson joins Longford with manager Daire Doyle excited by his potential.

“Callum is a winger with excellent dribbling and pace,” Doyle told his club’s media team. “I'm delighted to have him on board for next season and he'll be a great addition to the squad.”

He added on the re-signings of Steacy and Dennison: “It's great to get the two lads back.

“Lee is a great keeper and did well for us last year, as did Luke when he was called upon in the cup. They're good lads and are eager to get going for the new season.”

Niall Barnes leaves the club after joining ahead of the 2020 season from Bluebell United, while Adam Evans also departs following a two-year stint at Bishopsgate.

Dylan Hand exits Longford Town following his move from Premier Division kingpins Dundalk.
