Shelbourne snap up former Bohemians trio as defender returns after stint away

First Division Shelbourne have unveiled the signing of former Bohemians trio JJ Lunney, Michael Barker and Glen McAuley ahead of their 2021 First Division campaign.

Full-back John Ross Wilson has also returned to the club after a recent stint away with Bray Wanderers.

Defenders John Ross Wilson and Michael Barker were confirmed as Shelbourne players on Wednesday afternoon, while both Lunney and McAuley signed for the Reds on Thursday.

The Reds have now signed five new recruits ahead of the 2021 season, with Brendan Clarke also linking up with Ian Morris’ side.

“JJ is a fantastic footballer. (He’s) comfortable in possession and will create chances. He has good experience and (is) still only 22,” Morris told Shels’ media team.

“Glen has bundles of ability with an eye for goal. Really exciting young player who needs games. We will give him a platform that will allow his ability to flourish,” he added.

On his signing of his two new defenders, the Reds’ boss said: “JR has gone to play games and has had a fantastic season with Bray.

“I have tried to sign Michael before, and I am delighted to get him in this time.

“They’re two really good players (Barker and Wilson), coupled with fantastic attitudes and a desire to win.”
