Recently promoted Drogheda United have confirmed the re-signing of full-back James Brown ahead of the 2021 campaign.

He joined the club in November 2018 from Shelbourne, where he had progressed through the underage sides before breaking into the first team in 2016.

Brown’s first season at United Park saw the defender make 30 appearances as Drogheda reached the play-off against Finn Harps.

The 22-year-old re-signed with Drogheda for the 2020 season and made a further 19 appearances in the league and FAI Cup,

He scored his first goal for the club on the last day of the season – a result that saw Drogheda clinch promotion to the top-flight.

“I never thought twice about signing back. There’s no reason why I wasn’t going to come back this year, love everything about the club from Tim, Kev and the lads on the team to all the background staff.

“It’s an amazing club with big potential. The goal was to get to the Premier and we achieved that. The hard work starts all over again, I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead,” Brown explained.

He added: “We’d definitely want to stay up, that would be number one priority, anything after that is a bonus.”
