Peamount United clinch Women's National League title with win over Shelbourne

Peamount United have clinched their second Women’s National League title on the spin thanks to a 3-1 win at home to Shelbourne.

The Reds took the lead through Emily Whelan, but goals from Karen Duggan and Aine O’Gorman ended whatever hope Shels had of sealing the league title.

Whelan struck in the 46th minute for Dave Bell’s side who scored straight from the kick-off.

However, Peas would fight back and levelled in the 73rd minute through Aine O’Gorman who curled her free-kick into the corner of the net.

It was to get even better for Peamount minutes later as Karen Duggan headed from a corner-kick.

And O’Gorman sealed the deal in the 88th minute as she netted from close-range.

We will have a full match report to come from Brendan Graham later this evening.
