Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht have confirmed the acquisition of West Ham United midfielder Josh Cullen.

Cullen departs the Hammers after a 15-year long association with the East London club after joining at the age of 9.

While at the Premier League side, Cullen made 10 first-team starts for the Irons – and he was due to make his 11th last month but was side-lined following a positive Covid-19 result.

However, while he was at the club, Cullen enjoyed loan stints at Charlton Athletic, Bradford City and Bolton Wanderers.

“Josh is a midfielder who combines great running ability with grit and intensity,” said Peter Verbeke, Anderlecht’s sporting director.

“He is good on the ball, strong in the combination, has a good long ball and is known for his winning mentality and dedication – a real team player.”

A statement from West Ham United added: “Everybody at West Ham United would like to thank Josh for his professionalism, commitment and hard work over the last 15 years and wish him all the very best for his future career.”

Cullen was most recently in the Republic of Ireland side that played Bulgaria last November, and he was named man of the match in that game.
