League Preview: Shelbourne -v- Peamount United

SHELBOURNE

League leaders Shelbourne host champions and second-placed Peamount United in the biggest clash of the season to date on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 2pm).

The game is closed to supporters due to Covid-19 restrictions but will be broadcast live from Tolka Park courtesy of the WNL Show.

The Reds are the only remaining unbeaten side this season, with their only dropped points to date a 1-1 draw away to Galway two weeks ago.

Dave Bell’s side trailed at the break to a Chloe Singleton opener but equalised on the hour through Jessica Ziu.

Shelbourne have a full squad to choose from with no injuries or suspensions to contend with.

PEAMOUNT UNITED

Peamount will take an outright lead for the first time this season should they manage a win away to Shelbourne.

The Peas trail Shels by a point after six games apiece, their only dropped points coming in an away defeat to Wexford earlier this month.

James O’Callaghan’s side bounced back from that defeat last time out with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at home to Galway.

Lynsey McKee put Galway in front after two minutes but an Aine O’Gorman penalty and a stunning strike from Karen Duggan won it for Peamount.

Referee: Ciaran Redmond.

MATCH STATS

This is the first meeting between the sides this season.

Peamount won their FAI Cup semi-final to set up a final meeting with Wexford Youths, who won 3-2 on the day.
