Michael O'Connor set to join Ross County after Waterford departure

Premier Division Waterford have confirmed the departure of club captain and striker Michael O’Connor ahead of the final five games of the season.

The Blues have said in a statement that the Dundalk native is to join Scottish Premiership side Ross County.

O’Connor leaves Waterford after he scored in their heavy six-one defeat away to Shamrock Rovers at Tallaght Stadium on Monday evening.

O’Connor’s well-placed shot off Tyreke Wilson’s centre had enough pace to beat Alan Mannus’ left hand – the first goal Rovers had conceded in domestic action for six matches.

Ross County currently find themselves in fifth position in the Scottish Premiership and won their most recent league game away to St Johnstone one-nil.
