League Preview: DLR Waves -v- Bohemians

DLR WAVES

DLR Waves will look to pick up their first win of the season as they welcome Bohemians to the UCD Bowl for a first-ever derby between the sides (kick-off 6.30pm).

The recent rest week couldn’t have come at a worse time for Graham Kelly’s side as they looked to bounce back from a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Treaty United last time out.

Two goals in three minutes from Chloe Connolly and Aoife Horgan sunk Waves in Belfield that day.

Waves hadn’t trained that week due to precautions being taken over a possible close contact Covid-19 diagnosis (which was negative).

There will be no such mitigating circumstances this week, however, as they welcome a Bohemians side who have lost all of their matches to date.

Nicole Keogh misses out for Waves following her sending-off against Treaty United but Kelly has an otherwise full deck to choose from.

BOHEMIANS

Five defeats from five doesn’t tell the whole story for Bohemians, who have been competitive throughout their difficult start to life in the National League.

Last week saw Bohs come out the wrong side of a seven-goal thriller at the Oscar Traynor Centre, losing 4-3 to Cork City.

A brace from Alannah Maxwell and one from Aoife Robinson weren’t enough to overcome an in-form City side.

Goals from Lauren Egbuloniu and Christina Dring had City 2-0 up at the break and, although Bohs did level it up, Laura Shine’s brace ensured the three points went to Cork.
