Foundation being laid for a bright football future in Cavan-Monaghan

The Sean McCaffrey Foundation have agreed a unique sponsorship package with Cavan-Monaghan FC for their Airtricity League underage programme.

The foundation will cover the cost of all training sessions taking place at the Peace Link Facility in Clones for the upcoming Airtricity National League season.

Cavan-Monaghan FC, who will compete at under-15 level in the National League will sport the Sean Mc Caffrey Foundation logo on their playing kits.

McCaffrey was a huge advocate for the development of local talent and the foundation are delighted to support the project.

Paul Smyth from the Sean McCaffrey Foundation expressed his delight with the arrangement: “We are very happy to provide this support to young local footballers. It is vital that players in this area are given the opportunity to play at this level.

“Providing the security of a consistent, quality training environment will give the teams the ability to focus on preparing well for games against the best teams in the country.”

Pat Mc Enroe, Chairman of Cavan-Monaghan FC was equally delighted with the sponsorship deal: “This is a major support to the club.

“The Sean Mc Caffrey Foundation have done great work with various projects and we are delighted they have chosen to support us.”

Cavan Monaghan FC are providing football at an elite level for the best young talent in Cavan, Monaghan and the surrounding areas.

Recent graduates from the club include Bradley Okaidja from Ballyhaise who is currently a regular in the Athlone Town matchday squad and Lavey's Aaron McCabe who recently made his full debut for Longford Town and scored three goals in the past few weeks, including a lob against Wexford FC which went viral online.



Seán McCaffrey was a wonderful ambassador for football in the local area and the generous donation from the Foundation set up in his honour will help young players to continue to develop in the region and give them the best chance to showcase their talents at the highest level in the country.
