Former Derry City and Sligo Rovers defender Seamus Sharkey leaves Glenavon

Glenavon have announced that Seamus Sharkey has left the club.

Sharkey, who was born in the Isle of Man, follows Matthew Ferguson and Dylan Davidson who have also departed Mourneview Park this summer.

To date, the 30-year-old has represented Derry City, Sligo Rovers, Finn Harps and Lisburn Distillery.

The defender was also part of the Limerick squad that won the SSE Airtricity League First Division in 2016.

It will be interesting to see if Sharkey decides to stay up North or opt for a return to the SSE Airtricity League in his next move.

Glenavon will be hoping that they can improve on last season’s seventh placed finish when they kick-off their new campaign which is provisionally set to start on October 17th.
