Dundalk confirm departure of John Gill and Alan Reynolds from Oriel Park

SSE Airtricity League Champions Dundalk have confirmed that both John Gill and Alan Reynolds have left the club.

Following Vinny Perth’s departure from Dundalk last month, first-team coach Gill announced on twitter that he was leaving Oriel Park

“I felt I had no choice given recent events. I am extremely sad it has come to this. I wish the clubs staff, players & fans every success in the future.

Wednesday’s club statement noted that ‘everybody at Oriel Park would like to thank ‘Giller’ for the hard work, dedication and loyalty he has shown Dundalk FC over the past two decades. He was a very popular figure at the club and we wish him well in the future.’

The club also confirmed Gill's departure along with assistant manager Alan Reynolds – who had only joined Dundalk in June. The 46-year-old left had moved across from Waterford but he is another casualty of the upheaval around Oriel Park.

'We would like to thank Alan for his short stint at Oriel Park and wish him well, both with the U21 national squad and in the future,' the club statement read.

Interim head coach Filippo Giovagnoli continues to have Shane Keegan – who is a UEFA pro-licence holder – as part of the management team at Dundalk.
