League Preview: Treaty United -v- Bohemians

TREATY UNITED

Treaty United will look to build on their first-ever win in the Women’s National League when they host fellow newcomers Bohemians at the Markets Field (kick-off 2pm).

Last week saw Dave Rooney’s side take the scalp of DLR Waves at the UCD Bowl in just their third game of senior football.

Two goals in three minutes early in the second half from Chloe Connolly and Aoife Horgan saw the Limerick side to a deserved 2-0 victory.

With Bohemians still finding their feet at this level, Treaty will be confident of making it two wins in succession on Sunday afternoon.

BOHEMIANS

Bohemians travel to Limerick still in search of their first-ever win at senior level, having tasted defeat in each of their four games to date.

Incredibly, those four games have all come against last season’s top four and only now do they have an opportunity to face one of the other two new entrants to the league.

Last week saw back-to-back derby defeats, by identical 3-0 scorelines, at the hands of Shelbourne (midweek) and champions Peamount United.

An Aine O’Gorman brace either side of Eleanor Ryan Doyle’s strike don’t tell the full story as it was 0-0 going into the final two minutes of the first half.

And it took until 12 minutes from time for the league leaders to seal the win when Ryan Doyle finished off the second goal.

"We have come up against the top four teams from last season so we knew what we were going in against and how difficult it would be for us as a new team," said striker Bronagh Kane.

"But with each game you can see improvement and hopefully in our next couple of games we can push for a win.

“None of the teams in the League this year are weak so it's really all about the game on the day and how each team performs.

“[Treaty] had a big result in their last game by beating DLR Waves. I think that result shows that any team can take points off each other and that is what we are aiming for.

"I think we are getting more comfortable playing together and we are starting to gel more as a team."

Goalkeeper Courtney Maguire misses out as she serves the second game of a two-game ban for her sending-off against Galway.

Referee: Rafal Pieper.

MATCH STATS

The teams have never met before, but their under-17 sides did clash for the first time on Saturday afternoon.
