League Preview: Wexford -v- Drogheda United

WEXFORD

Wexford will be looking to avoid a third defeat in a row when they welcome Drogheda to Ferrycarrig Park on Friday night. (KO 7:45PM).

Cobh thrashed Brian O’Sullivan’s side 4-0 at St Colman’s Park on Tuesday while Shamrock Rovers II picked up their first win of the season at home to Wexford last Saturday.

O’Sullivan’s charges had been in good form before that, as they beat Athlone away from home before recording a credible 0-0 draw at home to league leaders Cabinteely.

Wexford will be without Conor English, Azeez Yusuff, Jack Larkin, Liam Berry and Malike Hill-Benrouguibi through injury while Janabi Amour Jr. is unavailable for the match.

DROGHEDA UNITED

Drogheda will be hoping that they can close the gap on First Division leaders Cabinteely when they travel to Wexford on Friday.

United go to Ferrycarrig Park on the back of a hard fought 1-0 win over Galway United at United Park last Friday night.

Jack Lynch fouled Chris Lyons inside the penalty area and Lyons stepped up to convert the resulting penalty to give Tim Clancy’s side all three points.

Drogheda will be without Luke Heeney and Luca Gratzer through injury for their trip to Ferrycarrig park while Adam Wixted is rated as doubtful.

Midfielder Sean Brennan has also retired from football after numerous years’ service with United.

“I’m very proud and honoured to have played for this special club for so long,” Brennan said following his announcement.
