James English departs First Division Longford Town

Former Shelbourne forward James English has confirmed his departure from Longford Town this evening.

The 29-year-old departs the Midlanders, making four appearances for the club after joining ahead of the 2020 campaign.

The forward was part of the Shelbourne squad in 2019 that went on to be crowned First Division Champions with English contributing two goals during the campaign.

English signed for Shelbourne midway through the 2015 season where he would go on to score 37 league goals for the Reds.

However, he was unable to replicate his goalscoring past for Longford this term, as he failed to net in any of his four league appearances for Daire Doyle’s charges.

Longford next face Galway United on Friday evening, with a kick-off time of 7.45pm at Eamonn Deacy Park.
