FAI Cup Second Round Draw Made

The draw has been made for the last 16 of the 2020 Extra.ie FAI Cup.

Due to Covid-19 and the reduced timeframe to play the competition in, only SSE Airtricity League clubs are competing in this year’s competition.

Three clubs had to earn their place in the last 16 with Dundalk seeing off Waterford, Finn Harps beating St Pat’s and Cork overcoming Longford in extra-time at Turners Cross on Tuesday.

The other 13 clubs in the draw received byes into the draw.

There’s one all Premier Division affair as Cork City were drawn to travel to Tallaght Stadium where they will take on current cup holders Shamrock Rovers.

The Rebels will be hopeful that it will end better than their last trip to Tallaght, which came back in February when the Hoops scored six without reply against Neale Fenn’s side.

There’s also one all First Division tie in which Wexford travel to Athlone.

Bray and Finn Harps will meet in a repeat of the 1999 FAI Cup final at the Carlisle Grounds.

Derry City boss Declan Devine will be hoping his side can save their season with a cup run after a difficult return from lockdown that’s seen his side lose twice in three games.
