Warrenpoint new boy Luke Gallagher relishing challenges ahead of new season

Luke Gallagher is relishing the upcoming season with his new club Warrenpoint Town. The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international brings with him huge experience from his time in the league of Ireland and across the channel in England.

The Irish youth international moved to Burnley from schoolboy club Cherry Orchard and quickly adapted to life in England with Burnley. He came back from his couple of years with the club to sign for Shelbourne before moving to Bray Wanderers. His most successful spell within the league came when he clinched promotion with Drogheda United. In four years with the Louth club he had three promotion play-offs and Luke was key component of the clubs success.

The versatile player spoke exclusively to extratime.com: “I am delighted to sign with Warrenpoint, I took some time out from football over the last year and have the hunger to get back and going again.”

Gallagher is thriving to enjoy his football again and is looking to hit the ground running when Warrenpoint return to competitive action. He believes he “can learn about the northern league and learn from Barry and the staff and is looking to get back winning and enjoying football.

Warrenpoint boss Barry Gray is delighted to have Gallagher at the club: “His playing experience speaks for itself and we are delighted to have him onboard. He is another player we believe can help take us to the next level.”

The Dublin native has high hopes for his side this season and is looking forward to the challenges that will bring.

“Warrenpoint didn’t have a good year last year so I am looking forward to the challenge to push on and improve. With the players I know there now who have signed, I am expecting us to do a lot better with the quality we have.”
