Athlone Town have announced a pair of signings ahead of the League of Ireland restart this weekend.

Ciaran Grogan has returned from Cabinteely to link up with Adrian Carberry’s side with midfielder Mark Birrane also joining the fold.

Grogan spent last season with Athlone before moving on to Cabinteely ahead of the 2020 First Division campaign.

He appeared on the bench for Cabinteely’s league games and made his one appearance for the club against Crumlin United in the now abandoned 2020 edition of the EA Sports Cup.

Birrane is a former Sligo Rovers Under 19 player and departed the Bit O’Red in 2017. He has been lining out for IT Carlow in recent times and was part of the squad that won the CUFL and CFAI Cup.

The Town restart their season against Wexford this Friday at Lissywoolen (kick-off 7.45pm).
