Longford Town snap up promising Lilywhite Lido Lotefa on loan

First Division promotion hunters Longford Town have confirmed the acquisition of forward Lido Lotefa on loan from Premier Division Dundalk.

Lotefa links up with Daire Doyle’s charges after beginning to make the breakthrough with Vinny Perth’s Dundalk.

The 20-year-old signed his first professional contract with the Lilywhites in December 2018 after joining up with the club’s under-19s in September of the said year.

“Lido has done quite well at Dundalk over the last couple of years and he’s put himself in a position to play there. We feel very fortunate and lucky that in being able to get a deal done,” Longford boss Daire Doyle told extratime.com.

“I’d like to thank Vinny Perth and Dundalk to allow us bring Lido to the club. Lido has played the last couple of games for us, so we’ve added Lido to the squad.

“We hoped to possibly get one more but that hasn’t happened, so we’ll see. We’re really happy with what we have.

“We have Dean Byrne coming back which will feel like a new signing so we’re very happy with where we are with the squad. Lido will be a great addition to the group.”

Since signing a pro deal with Dundalk, the Balbriggan native has made four appearances for the Oriel Park outfit’s first-team.
