Three-time Europa League winner Unai Emery unveiled as Villarreal manager following Arsenal exit

La Liga side Villarreal have confirmed the appointment of three-time Europa League winner Unai Emery as their new manager.

The Spanish manager will steer the Yellow Submarine for the next three years after agreeing terms with the side who missed out on a Champions League spot this season.

Emery, who spent four years in charge of Villareal’s provincial rivals Valencia, has been out of work since being sacked by Arsenal in November.

48-year-old Emery previously led Sevilla to three successive Europa League triumphs and won a domestic treble with Paris Saint-Germain in 2017/18 before moving to north London.

He will be formally presented as Villarreal manager on Monday at 11.30am at the club’s home ground, Estadio de la Céramica.
