Mark Scanlon appointed new League of Ireland Director

The FAI have announced changes to its Senior Leadership Team with Mark Scanlon being appointed as the new League of Ireland director.

The news follows the association’s decision to advertise for a number of posts internally in recent weeks as part of a broader restructuring of key roles within the governing body.

The new appointments will see Scanlon move from his current job as National Co-ordinator for Schools and Third Level Football, while Ger McDermott has swapped his role as Club and League Development manager for a new role as Head of Grassroots.

Elsewhere in the business side of the organisation, Rea Walshe has been reappointed to the role of Chief Operations Officer having had to re-apply and re-interview for her current job in recent weeks.

FAI Interim CEO Gary Owens welcomed the appointments and looked forward to working with all in the times ahead.

“I want to congratulate Rea Walshe, Mark Russell, Mark Scanlon and Ger McDermott on their appointments and look forward to working with them on our Senior Leadership Team. On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team and all their colleagues at the FAI, I wish them well in their new roles.”
