Former Cork City and Sligo Rovers star Kieran Sadlier set to leave Doncaster

Doncaster Rovers have announced that former Cork City winger Kieran Sadlier will leave the club when his contract expires. 

A club statement read on Tuesday morning "The club were unable to reach an agreement with winger Kieran Sadlier and he will leave the club at the end of his contract". 

Sadlier was a crucial member of Darren Moore's squad at the Keepmoat Stadium in 2019-20 as he scored 12 goals making him their leading goalscorer and registering six assists as Rovers finished 9th in League One. 

Sadlier started his youth career at Cambridge United before making a move to West Ham United in 2005. He signed his first pro-deal with the Hammers in 2013 and spent two years are the club.

He then spent time at St Mirren, Peterborough United and Halifax Town on loan before making a move to Turners Cross. 

Sadlier was linked to a move to Hull City in January who are managed by his former boss at Peterborough United Grant McCann. 

The winger was a pivotal part of the Cork City team that won the Premier Division and FAI Cup double in 2017, he scored 26 times the following season and earned a place in the PFAI Team of the Year.

He has also been named in the Ireland provisional squad on three occasions but is yet to make the final cut although new boss Stephen Kenny is an admirer of the 25 year old. 

Devante Cole, Alex Baptiste and Alex Kiwomya will also leave the club with legendary midfielder James Coppinger being offered a new one year deal at the age of 39.
