Former Linfield star Jack Chambers released by West Brom as Chris Brunt signs new contract until the end of the season

West Bromwich Albion have announced that Northern Ireland under 19 international Jack Chambers has been released by the club.

Chambers joined the Baggies from Linfield in 2016 and linked up with the under 18's at the Hawthorns Stadium before his impressive performances saw him called into the under 23 side at just 16.

He made his Premier League 2 debut towards the end of the 2016/17 campaign.

Chambers then became a pivotal part in the Premier League Cup and Checkatrade Trophy teams before he suffered a leg break in October 2017 against Fulham in a friendly.

The midfielder who comes from Banbridge has represented Northern Ireland at all youth level ages and is still regarded as one of the finest young talents from the province.

He also captained County Downs junior side at the Supercup NI and had a superb tournament winning the Bertie Peacock Award in the process

Kevin Healy, Brad House, Dan Meredith and Sam Wilding have also seen their Albion journey's come to an end as Academy manager Richard Stevens said: “Although this will be a challenging time I am sure these boys will have taken a lot from their many years at the Academy. All of the staff would like to wish them well for their ongoing careers.”

Chris Brunt who will be leaving West Brom at the end of the season has also signed a contract extension until the end of the campaign to help the Baggies in their promotion push from the Championship as they currently sit top of the league on goal difference.

West Brom returned to action at home to Birmingham City last Saturday as they drew 0-0.
