Aiden McGeady extends Charlton loan

Republic of Ireland international winger Aiden McGeady has extended his loan stint at Charlton Athletic until the end of the Championship season.

The former Glasgow Celtic and Everton star spent the last four months on loan at the Valley from Sunderland, but he has only played three games for the South London outfit.

The Glaswegian has started twice for the Addicks and has made one appearance off the bench for the Championship side.

Charlton currently lie in 22nd position in the Sky Bet Championship table, two points behind the trio of Hull City, Wigan Athletic and Middlesbrough.

Director of Football, Steve Gallen told his club’s media team: “It has been a surreal few months with a lot of challenges but I'm very pleased we've been able to get everything sorted ahead of tomorrow's restart.

“The squad is looking good and the players are excited to be getting back on the pitch.”

Charlton restart their Championship campaign tomorrow with a trip away to relegation rivals Hull. Kick-off at the KC Stadium is at 3pm.
