Former Lilywhite Dylan Connolly released by League One Wimbledon

Former Dundalk and Bray Wanderers winger Dylan Connolly has been released by League One Wimbledon.

Connolly joined the Dons at the end of the 2018 League of Ireland season, where he made 15 appearances for the club.

He also joined Bradford City on loan from Wimbledon in September 2019 – and he made 27 appearances for the Bantams during his season long loan there.

“We would have liked to have kept most of these players, but we cannot do it in the current financial climate,” said Wimbledon boss Glyn Hodges.

“The players have been brilliant since I came back to Wimbledon. The senior players made a big contribution to the Great Escape in my first season as part of the management team, and they were a massive influence in the dressing room.

“The young boys who have left us showed a great attitude and hunger in training every day. All the players have been a pleasure to work with.

“It is a horrible time to release them in this current climate, but we have to cut our cloth accordingly. We wish them well in their careers and we hope they go onto be successful.”

Meanwhile, the club have also confirmed that they are ‘aiming’ to take up the option on Shane McLoughlin’s contract to prolong the Kerryman’s stay.
