Jonny Hayes leaves Celtic

Former Irish international Jonny Hayes will not have his contract renewed by Celtic when it expires at the end of the month.

Hayes signed for the Scottish champions in 2017 from Aberdeen. He went on to make 68 times, scoring two goals during his time in Glasgow, the most memorable of those goals being against Rangers in a 2-0 win at Ibrox.

The midfielder has had ups and downs in recent years having broken his leg on St Stephen's Day in 2017, an injury which would see him ruled out for the remainder of the season. However, his performance in the green and white have seen his club claim three league titles in as many years.

With the Covid-19 pandemic halting football around the world, it may be a number of weeks before Hayes can begin to search for a new club.
