Drogheda United offer free entry for home and away fans for their first home game when the league resumes

Drogheda United will offer free entry to home and away fans for their first game back when the League of Ireland resumes later this year.

The County Louth outfit have also offered free publicity to local businesses on the night as they look to bring the community together once again following what is hoped to be the end of the crisis.

The FAI and National League Executive Council have set June 19th as a provisional return date for the league, in the middle of what was set to be the mid-season break.

That break is expected to be foregone as clubs scramble to fulfil as many fixtures as possible, and that could see Drogs’ home tie with Bray Wanderers scheduled for Friday the 19th.

Drogs have won two of their three games to date and sat second in the table, three points behind the early-season pacesetters Cabinteely, prior to the league’s suspension.

“We at Drogheda United want to give every Drogheda United supporter something to look forward to at the end of this national crisis,” read a club statement.

“When the league restarts, the first home match in United Park will be FREE to both home AND away fans on the night.

“We encourage everyone attending to bring friends and family and enjoy time together at United Park.

“Everybody will be welcome to come & watch this game for FREE. Whether you are a football fan or not, we want you to get out when we can once again & enjoy a LOI game with us.

“We will also offer to any Drogheda based business who would like a mention on the night as part of our match night sponsorship, to take part FREE of charge to get moving once again.

“We will update all business locally on this closer to our start date via local media. A special matchday community programme will be produced.

“We will come through this crisis as a community & when we do. We will celebrate as a community.

“For now keep social distancing, in order to pull together we must stay apart.”
