Cobh Ramblers' Lee Devitt Molloy clear to face UCD after 'mistaken identity' red card

Cobh Ramblers have confirmed that midfielder Lee Devitt Molloy will be free to face UCD in Belfield on Friday night after his red card from the opening game against Drogheda United was rescinded.

The former Limerick player, making his debut for the Rams, was dismissed for an apparent second yellow card issued by referee Oliver Moran in the second half of the 2-0 defeat.

It was subsequently clarified by the FAI that the red card had been issued in error as the 19-year-old had no previously been booked when issued with the yellow card in the 77th minute.

Finn Harps’ Alexander Kogler has also been cleared to make his debut for the Premier Division side after the Austrian FA confirmed a pre-existed suspension from his time at Grazer had been served.

“Cobh Ramblers can confirm following a disciplinary meeting on Wednesday, the red card issued to Lee Devitt has been rescinded due to a case of mistaken identity," read a Cobh statement.

“Lee is now available for selection for Friday night’s fixture versus UCD in Belfield.”
