Athlone sign three as First Division campaign edges closer

First Division Athlone Town have confirmed the re-signing of trio Evan White, Dean George and Ronan Manning ahead of the 2020 campaign.

News of the trio’s return to Lissywoolen comes shortly after it was confirmed that Darren Meenan has also committed to the fold for the upcoming season.

White returns to Athlone after a brief spell with Warrenpoint Town in Northern Ireland. The forward began with the Bray Wanderers under-17s for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

He then moved to Shamrock Rovers before joining Athlone Town at the start of last season. In July of last year, he transferred to Warrenpoint to make his Co. Westmeath return.

George also comes back to the Athlone fold after a recent spell with Leinster Senior League Tolka Rovers.

He started his League of Ireland career with Wexford and played in the club’s under-19 side for the 2015, 2016, and 2017 seasons while also being included in the Slaneysiders senior set-up.

Manning also joins Adrian Carberry’s charges a Lissywoolen for the upcoming campaign after a recent spell at Galway United.

The brother of highly-rated potential Irish international Ryan Manning has played for the Republic of Ireland at under-15 to under-19 level previously.

The central midfielder made his League of Ireland debut in 2017, before going on to be a regular in the Tribesmen’s 2018 squad.
