Larne sign Herron and Tully on Irish League's Deadline Day

Northern Irish Premiership side Larne have confirmed the double signing of John Herron and Joe Tully.

25-year-old former Celtic midfielder Herron joins the Inver Park side from Glentoran, while Tully makes the move from Ballyclare Comrades.

Herron spent the previous eighteen months at the Oval after departing Scottish side Raith Rovers.

“John is a player we have been tracking for a while now,” Larne boss Tiernan Lynch said.

“He is a lad who is going to add real quality and real experience to the team. He trained with us and he fitted right in.

“We talk a lot about culture and bringing the right person to the club and John fits the bill. He’s a lad who wants to get on the ball and play and he’s been hugely impressed with how we play.”

The Inver Men have also confirmed the acquisition of exciting 21-year-old forward Joe Tully from Championship side Ballyclare Comrades.

The forward has been in electric form this season, scoring 16 times in 21 games. Speaking on his new recruit, Lynch said; “Joe has just broken on to the scene in the Championship.

“He is big, strong and powerful and still with a lot to learn, so he is an exciting prospect.

“I was hugely impressed with Joe when I met him. He doesn’t lack confidence and is really hungry for success.

“A lot of people talk about Larne and that we buy ready-made players and so on, but this shows this club is about building foundations.

“We want to bring players in who want to come on this journey with us and I think we’ve found one in Joe.”
