Athlone bring in five more players ahead of opening Women's National League campaign

Athlone Town have announced five more signings ahead of the 2020 Women’s National League season.

Sisters Leah and Kayla Brady, Clodagh Dillon, Bronagh Kane and Angelina De Rosa have all committed to the Midlands club for Athlone’s first season at senior level in the WNL.

Leah Brady spent last year as part of Galway WFC’s senior side, she was also part of their Under 17 side that were League runners up in 2018.

She has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under 16, Under 17 and Under 19 level.

Kayla Brady is the current Under 17 WNL Player of the Year and signs for Athlone Town from Galway WFC.

She was captain of the Under 17 side at Eamonn Deacy Park last year, that side won the Under 17 WNL title, the League Cup and the Lisbon Cup during a very successful 2019 season.

Brady has also been capped up to Under 19 level for the Republic of Ireland.

Bronagh Kane has made over 50 appearances in the WNL for Kilkenny United and the winger also lines out for IT Carlow.

Clodagh Dillon is returning to Athlone Town having previously represented the club at Under 17 level.

Dillon has also spent time with Bohemians Under 17 WNL side where she won the Charlie Fitzgerald Cup.



Angelina De Rosa is also returning to Athlone Town having played for the club in the Under 17 WNL two years ago.

De Rosa has played for Bealnamulla for the past 10 years and captained the All Ireland winning Athlone Community College team.
