Matthew Snoddy joins Glenavon on loan from Crusaders

Danske Bank Premiership side Glenavon have confirmed the signing of Crusaders midfielder Matthew Snoddy on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Snoddy joins Glenavon who have also confirmed the acquisition of former Shelbourne and St Patrick’s Athletic winger Conan Byrne.

The 26-year-old joined Crusaders from Coleraine in 2015, where he has played ever since at Seaview.

Glenavon boss Gary Hamilton said; “I’d like to thank Stephen Baxter and Crusaders for facilitating this loan deal.

“We knew we would probably be losing Rhys in January but Eoin Wearen moving to take up a coaching role in the States came out of the blue.

“With losing two quality players from midfield we needed to move quickly to bring in a quality replacement and when we heard that Matthew was available for a loan move, we snapped him up.

“It’s a good move for Matthew as he will get regular game time and it helps us in an area where we needed to replace players we have lost.”

Glenavon currently lie 7th in the Danske Bank Premiership, eight points behind 6th placed Larne. Their next outing will see them face Institute on Saturday.
