Cian Leonard re-signs for First Division Cobh Ramblers

First Division Cobh Ramblers have conformed the re-signing of forward Cian Leonard ahead of the 2020 campaign.

Leonard makes his return to St Colman’s Park having impressed with the Rams in recent years.

The forward played for Cork City's under-17 squad for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. In July 2016 he progressed to City's under-19 side where he continued to play in 2017.

But in July of 2017 he left City to join the under-19 side at Cobh Ramblers before re-signed with Cobh ahead of the 2018 season having made 8 appearances for the first team in 2017.

From there he featured in both 2018 and 2019, scoring 10 goals in 37 league games for the club.

His most recent strike came in the 3-1 defeat at home to Longford Town on the final day of the 2019 league campaign.

“We showed last year that we can go head-to-head with the top teams, we just need to introduce a bit of consistency into our game,” Leonard told his club’s media team.

“That’s where we fell down last season and if we can improve on that then we are more than capable of a high finish.”

Since joining Cobh midway through the 2017 season, the Corkonian has one EA Sports Cup runners-up medal to his name along with a First Division runners-up medal.
