Dean Clarke extends spell at Richmond Park

St Patrick’s Athletic have confirmed that wide player Dean Clarke is to stay at the club ahead of the 2020 campaign.

Clarke joined the Saints ahead of the 2018 season from Limerick, and he has since gone on to make 51 league appearances for the club in a two-year spell.

The 26 year old began his League of Ireland career at UCD, before joining Limerick initially in 2015.

Following relegation in 2015 with the Blues, Clarke joined Shamrock Rovers – where he spent year at Tallaght Stadium before making his return to the Markets Field in 2017.

He then joined Liam Buckley’s Saints ahead of the 2018 season – and he has since gone on to play under three further managers in Harry Kenny, Ger O’Brien and Stephen O’Donnell.

“I met Stephen very early on, I think it was the weekend after the season finished and it wasn’t that long of a chat,” Clarke told the Athletic’s media team.

“We more so spoke about his and my ambitions for the coming season. It’s my third season here now and I want to really push on now.

“This club has completely changed in the last two years that I have been here now. There’s been big changes, big changes to the squad and you can see the ambition from the young players and the new ones.

“I think we still have a few to come in to boost the squad so I’m hopeful ahead of the coming season.”
