Warrenpoint bolster their ranks with the signing of former Athlone and Longford midfielder Kealan Dillon

Irish League outfit Warrenpoint Town have unveiled the signing of former Athlone and Longford Town midfielder Kealan Dillon.

The 25-year-old spent the 2019 League of Ireland season at Athlone Town, where he made 26 appearances for the Blue and Black of the Midlands.

While at Lissywoolen – the former Hull City youth scored six goals for Terry Butler’s side who ended the season in 9th position at the end of play in September.

Kealan made 32 league appearances for Athlone in 2014, missing only the last game of the season due to accumulating to many yellow cards.

He scored four goals too, as Athlone were narrowly relegated on the final day of the season under manager Keith Long, who had taken over from Mick Cooke halfway through the season.

Dillon then followed Long to Bohemians and then made 21 league appearances for the Gypsies during 2015, scoring a goal of the season contender in a 2-1 win over Derry City, as Bohs finished fifth in the Premier Division.

But he spent just one season at Dalymount Park and in November 2015 Kealan moved to Longford Town under Tony Cousins.

He played in 28 of Longford's 33 league games in 2016, a season in which the Midlands club was relegated to the First Division – where he remained until the end of the 2017 season.

A year stint then followed at Drogheda, before he soon made the move to his hometown club Athlone.

Stuart Hutchinson also joins Warrenpoint from PSNI FC. The 28-year-old will wear the number 22 jersey.

Hutchinson has experience in the Northern Ireland leagues playing for PSNI FC and Ballinamallard in the past.

The club have also confirmed that Brandon Doyle has extended his loan deal from Linfield until the end of the season.
